Holiday Peace, Not Holiday Pounds

🎁 Tis’ the Season... of Snacks and Seconds

What are we supposed to do about the holidays — the food, the drinks, the “just one more bite”?

Hi, I’m Shoshanna Richek, your Certified Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Counselor and Advanced Belief Clearing Practitioner — helping you reprogram from the inside out for lasting food freedom.

From Halloween to New Year’s, it’s basically one long buffet. I mean, let’s be honest — the holidays come with sparkle, joy… and an entire table of temptation. 🎂🍷

So, how do we enjoy all of it without losing our rhythm, our peace, and our favorite jeans?

Let’s talk about it.

🧠 Step One: Why It Even Matters

Every year, I see people doing so well — eating balanced meals, moving more, feeling great — and then boom, the holidays hit.

Suddenly, it’s a cookie here, a cocktail there, and by January we’re wondering, “Who shrunk my pants?”

It’s not just about the weight; it’s about how you feel.

Ask yourself:

  • Why does this matter to me right now?

  • How do I want to feel when the holidays are over?

  • Do I want to wake up feeling proud — or puffed? 😅

When your “why” is clear, your “what” and “how” get much easier.

🌿 Step Two: Where Are You Starting From?

Be honest with yourself — not harsh, just honest.

Are you maintaining, releasing, or just getting started on your wellness journey?

Knowing where you are helps you stay centered. And if you’ve drifted, no big deal — the holidays are a great time to reset before the new year.

💡 Little hack: I love making a quick veggie stir-fry soup with tofu or shrimp when I need to feel lighter and reset my body. (If you want the recipe, message me — I’ll share it!)

🧁 Step Three: Must-Haves vs. Maybes

Every holiday plate comes with two categories:

1. Must-Haves — your emotional comfort foods (mac and cheese, pie, Grandma’s stuffing).

2. Maybes — the random extras (chips, bread rolls, stuff you’ll forget tomorrow).

Give yourself permission to love the must-haves — guilt-free — and simply skip the maybes.

I learned how to taste and “see if it's worth it.”
Take one bite, and if it’s just “meh”? Set it down, smile, and move on. It's ok. You don't need to feel sick or hurt yourself.

Learn how to taste, enjoy and stop when you're full.

🍷 Step Four: Prepare Like a Pro (Without Losing the Fun)

Here’s your ultimate strategy — plan how you want to feel the next day.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I want to feel light and energized, or foggy and regretful?

  • Am I okay with a little indulgence if I balance it out with movement and hydration?

Visualize your day: the meal, the people, the portions.

Think ahead about what’s worth it and what’s not.

For example, at a recent wedding, I enjoyed the fish, a few bites of dessert, and yes — I walked right past the cookie table of doom. 🍪😅
That’s growth.

I didn’t deprive myself — I chose what mattered most.

💪 Step Five: Host or Hack the Menu

If you can, host the event (that’s what I do). You control what’s served — lots of non-starchy veggies, clean proteins, and a few favorites.

If you’re attending, bring a dish that you love and feel great eating. A fruit platter, a veggie tray, roasted carrots — whatever says “safe and satisfying” to you.

That way, you can enjoy without stress or guilt.

✨ Step Six: Smile on the Inside

This isn’t about restriction — it’s about freedom.

Smile on the inside knowing you’re choosing what serves your body and your peace.

Sure, I could eat everything in sight (trust me, I’ve been that person 😅). But these days, I choose what fuels me — not what frustrates me later.

We’re not missing out. We’re leveling up. 🧡

🌼 Step Seven: Start the New Year Ahead

You don’t need a diet resolution in January if you stay mindful in December.

Even if you overdo it a little, remember: balance is a mindset, not a number.

A few intentional meals, extra walks, and hydration get you right back on track.

So this year, skip the guilt — keep the peace.

Because your joy, your energy, and your confidence are worth so much more than another serving of pie.

💫In Summary

“Fear is in your imagination. One small step with me moves you out of fear and into freedom.”
